A New Way to Teach About Diabetes

 

BREAKOUT DESCRIPTION:

CRUSH Diabetes (middle school) and Team Thrive (high school) are unique programs that incorporate technology and active learning while fulfilling Utah Health Education Standards for nutrition, making them engaging for students and simple to teach for health educators. Combined, our CRUSH Diabetes and Team Thrive programs have reached over 106,000 students, across five states including Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, and Montana.

Madeleine French, MS, RDN, is a dietitian and program manager for Team Thrive. She’s passionate about nutrition education and diabetes prevention. On the weekends, you can find her backpacking around southern Utah or skiing at Alta.

Sarah Elizabeth Garza-Levitt, MSW, CSW, E-RYT, C-IAYT, C-MQI, is the program lead of CRUSH Diabetes. As a social worker, Sarah Elizabeth strives to make evident the connection between mental and physical health through a deep commitment to advancing prevention programs, and integrative health.
